#Snibbitseeksinspiration “Gems”

When work and private life sometimes blend together and you don’t even mind

Why my mind never stands still

Quite regularly, I visit places that immediately set my mind in motion. Sometimes I plan such a visit very deliberately; other times it happens spontaneously. Especially on vacation, my husband and children know the drill by now: “Mom needs to take a look at something.” And there I am again, in the middle of a path, around a corner, or on my knees for a detail that triggers me instantly.

Far away and close by

The photo above proves that the most exotic inspirations don’t always have to come from afar. It can also happen in a little shop in Egmond aan Zee. These are the kinds of little gems I collect, cherish, and later use in my work.
In recent weeks, I found such gems again. One of those places was the Follybos: hidden, quirky, and absolutely illogical. To someone else, it might be a collection of oddities; to me, it’s a gold mine. The unusual, the bizarre, the almost incomprehensible—that’s what turns everything in my head ON. Precisely because it feels unfinished. Because it breaks the rules. Because it shows that space for fantasy and innovation can emerge anywhere.
And then there’s another surprising part of the Follybos. I won’t explain that one. You have to experience it. Really, some things only work if you walk through them yourself.

I also went to take a look at Hans & Grietje in Zeewolde. What a fantastically beautiful spot.
A typical case of “When work and private life sometimes blend together and you don’t even mind.” For lovers of an overload of decoration, it’s an absolute must to go here during the winter/Christmas period.
